A hard lesson in Direct Sales is your learning to hear “no” and carry on. It’s not as easy as it sounds. In relationships, in parenting, in life, we associate anger, shame and closure with the word, so it's natural to let the “No” stop you from achieving your goals. The key, and challenge, is knowing that it's ok to hear “No”.
Direct Sales Tip – “No” is not a bad word.
No one wants to hear no, especially if what you are asking makes you SO happy that you just can't help but want to share it. In Direct Sales, we learn to combat this potential heartbreak by understanding that no only means “not right now”.
Note…please don't confuse this as permission to harass your potential leads and customers. It's simply a matter of accepting that this may just not be the right time for the other person and you can always come back to them another time.
Learning that the word “No” is not a personal and hurtful jab at you is a liberating lesson. It's also one I often need a refresher in. Accepting “no” as a positive response is probably a confusing and very strange concept for you. Don't worry. You are not alone. It is however an important lesson that needs to be learned as an Entrepreneur.
Don't give up. It's critical to see your goal through and not let “No” be a roadblock. And have faith. Trust that it does get easier, because it does. Keep Going!
